The convenor of the seminar Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh, the Principal of the Pharmacy Department elaborate about the two days seminars based on the theme that is basically organised to explore the recent advancement, research achievement and looking for the opportunities existing for utilisation of traditional medicinal plants to develop new herbal drugs.
By giving brief introduction of the University and the main objective of the establishment of the organisation to make students responsible and good citizens during gathering knowledge , the Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof.S.K Singh asserted that, Knowledge is essence of course but the essence of the knowledge is habituate to apply it. Students should utilise their knowledge in the real life situations to develop good society and nation.
In his address, the Registrar Dr. Saurbah Kumar Sharma congratulate to the department of pharmacy to select the theme based on the indigenous traditional plants and he said that, in this era of modernity and technology, all the medicines obtained from plants are becoming scarce and in the ancient time for the prevention of various pandemics, treatment has been done with methods mentioned in Ayurveda.
Guest of Honour of the Seminar, Dr. Deependra Singh Chairman, ERC Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi by sharing some data of the availability of medical plants, said that in Chhattisgarh more than 1500 medical plants are listed and the tribal people of the state have excellent knowledge about the utilisation of the indigenous medicated species and process for the treatment. Along with it, Dr. Singh said that, in the World every third consumed pills manufactured in India because any medicine discovered in any part of the World they have passed through India due to availability of the State-of-art related to manufacturing Medicines at world level.
By sharing his experience, the Chief Guest of the inaugural function of the National Seminar, Mr. Arun Kumar Pandey IFS Additional CCF Forest Department of Chhattisgarh asserted that, the importance of Sustainable Development based on the traditional wisdom to follow and maintain the learning process of the traditional medicines provided by our ancestors because according to the Vedas, Upanishads that every plants and trees have medicals value and Mr.Pandey also discuss about the establishment of Forest Dispensary with the help of Ayurveda physicians of Chhattisgarh and share some medicated plants as Glorisa Superba generally known as Kalihari and medicated seeds of the plant Red Creeper (Vantilago Danticulata) utilise to remove skin diseases.
In the first day technical session Prof. Chanchal Deep Kaur Principal RCPSR Raipur, Dr. Nagendra Singh Chauhan Senior Scientist Drugs Testing Lab. and Research Centre, Raipur and Prof. Dr. Sushil K. Sashi Dept. of Botany, GGU, Raipur were the , resource persons of the National Seminar.
In the Seminar dean academic Dr. R.R.L Birali, Chief PRO Mr. Rajesh Tiwari, Organising Secretary Dr. Veena Devi Singh and all staff members along with students of the pharmacy department were present at the seminar.
