University celebrates National Sports Day in honour of Major Dhyan Chand…
Over 300 students participated in 8 sporting events in the two-day event…
Shri Rawatpura Sarkar University celebrated National Sports Day on 29th August 2024 with great zeal and enthusiasm honoring the legacy of Major Dhyan Chand, one of the greatest sporting icons of India. The event was aimed at promoting sportsmanship, physical fitness and awareness about the importance of sports in the lives of students.
The two-day celebrations began with a grand opening ceremony at the
sports complex of the university where students, faculty members and sports lovers gathered to pay tribute to the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand who brought immense glory to India through his remarkable achievements on the field. The event was graced by the presence of Vice-Chancellor Shri Harsh Gautam, Vice-Chancellor Prof. S.K. Singh and Registrar Dr. Saurabh Kumar Sharma who delivered a motivational speech emphasizing the importance of sports in building character and discipline.
Various sports activities and competitions including Badminton, Carrom and Volleyball, Basketball, Athletics, Lemon Race, Sack Race and Tug of War were organized in the University. The sports teams of the University showcased their talent and competitive spirit reflecting the values of Major Dhyan Chand. The total number of participants was more than 300 students from various departments of the University.
Apart from the sports competitions, a special description of the glorious career of Major Dhyan Chand was given by the Director of Physical Education, Dr. Sumit Kumar Tiwari. The description of the life and achievements of the Hockey Wizard particularly attracted the young players.
The National Sports Day celebrations in the University were a grand success, promoting the spirit of unity, sportsmanship and respect for the legacy of one of India's greatest sporting heroes. The winners of various sports competitions organized in the University will be awarded trophies and certificates by the Chief Guests on August 30.
