Key areas of study:
Master of Technology in
Instrumentation & Controlis a postgraduate Engineering course. The electrical Instrumentation & Control includes power generation, electrical power transmission, electrical distribution, control & protection, electrical switchgear, electrical power transformers, control & relays, transmission substation, distribution substation, and all switchyard equipment. Topics such as power systems analysis in the steady-state and under transient conditions, system stability, protection and control, transmission and distribution system design and apparatus, and power system operations and planning are offered.
Program Education Objectives:
The objective of the course is to operate and maintain main electrical utilities for their efficient operations. To make them understand concepts of utilization of Electrical Energy. To acquaint with the concepts of instrumentation that used power system industries. It deals with basic theory of transmission lines modelling and their performance analysis. It is important for the student to understand the mechanical design aspects of transmission lines, cables, insulators. These aspects are also covered in detail in this course.
MTechInstrumentation & Control develops analytical and problem solving skills of the candidates by equipping them with rightful experience and knowledge.
An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering. An ability to identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using principles of mathematics, and engineering sciences. An ability to design solutions for engineering problems and to design a component, system, or process that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, along with the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations. An ability to use research-based knowledge and techniques including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions. An ability to create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering tools for prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations. The engineer and society: Achieve professional success with an understanding and appreciation of ethical behaviour, social responsibility, and diversity, both as individuals and in team environments. Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge for sustainable development to articulate a comprehensive world view that integrates diverse approaches to sustainability.
Program Specific Outcomes:
The program is beneficial for those interested in pursuing a career in power engineering or further study to the Ph.D. level.
It also provides you with in-depth knowledge of novel types of electric drives and solid-state power converters, as well as their associated control systems, with an emphasis on computer control.
This program will prepare electrical engineers for professional practice in the electric utility industry or other applications of electric power.
The program also provides a technical track of analytical and practical subjects that are necessary for engineering success in today’s power industry.
